State Regions Advisory Committees
Purpose
Section 1-31-40(A)(6), South Carolina Code of Laws, provides for the authority of the South Carolina Commission for Community Advancement and Engagement (SCCAE) to establish advisory committees representative of the state’s geographic regions.
Scope
These rules and regulations shall be applicable to all advisory committees, except as specifically addressed separately for Native American Indians.
Duties of Advisory Committees
- Advise SCCAE regarding the causes and effects of the socio-economic issues relevant to rural and under resourced communities in the State and to implement necessary programs to address these issues.
- Identify the needs and concerns of the state’s various rural and under resourced communities and bring such needs and concerns to the attention of SCCAE.
- Make recommendations to SCCAE to address the needs and concerns of the state’s various rural and under resourced communities.

Community Engagement
The ADVANCE SC Community Engagement Advisory Committee serves as a strategic advisory body that provides guidance, recommendations, and community insight to the South Carolina Commission for Community Advancement and Engagement (ADVANCE SC). The committee helps ensure that agency programs, policies, initiatives, and community investments are informed by the voices, experiences, and priorities of residents across South Carolina.
The committee supports ADVANCE SC's mission to Engage. Empower. Evolve. by fostering meaningful partnerships, promoting inclusive participation, and strengthening connections between communities and government.
Small Business
The ADVANCE SC Small Business Advisory Committee serves as a strategic advisory body that provides guidance, expertise, and stakeholder input to support the development, growth, and sustainability of small businesses across South Carolina. The committee helps ensure that ADVANCE SC programs, policies, and initiatives are responsive to the needs of entrepreneurs, startups, minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, veteran-owned businesses, rural businesses, and other underserved business communities while maintaining a race-neutral and gender-neutral approach to economic opportunity.
